Synopsis[]
This is the tale of the girls bearing humanity's last hope.
Besieged by mysterious life-forms known as "the Cancer," Earth teeters on the brink of ruin. All human weaponry proved futile against the Cancer's onslaught, and without any means to fight back, humanity has been forced to retreat. Land was forsaken, and nations were erased in the ensuing chaos. Now, over half of the Earth's surface has been lost to the Cancer. With little time left and the danger of extinction looming, humans developed a brand-new, ultimate weapon called "Seraph," and those endowed with Seraphim can finally fight against the Cancer with vigor. Those who can master their Seraphim are gathered to create a special squadron, becoming humanity's last beacon of hope. They have one thing in common: they are all girls with special talents. Among them stands Ruka Kayamori, poised to throw herself into the war against the Cancer.

The initial development goes as far as 2017, when Yohei Kakinuma (producer) and Shota Shimoda (game designer) originally plan it as a tower defense game for PC. However, as Jun Maeda (main writer) and the Key studio started to get involved, the plan shifts to a role-playing game for smartphones instead. [1]
The original announcement was already made in November 2019 with game presentation showcase was planned on February 28, 2020 and aiming for full launch in 2020. However, on January 20, the official media announced that the launch will be postponed to 2021 and so does the current plans like song releases (with Before I Rise and White Spell being released days prior to the announcement), and the planned February showcase. The reason cited is for them to take more time to improve the game quality. The launch was postponed further to 2022, with reason cited is to ensure a stable release at launch.
The game finally launched on February 10, 2022. A record of 1 million downloads was achieved just 3 days after the game's launch in Japan. [2] The Steam port for PC was later active from August 10, 2022, supporting account transfers from mobile version. However the port is limited in Japanese for language and currency support. [3] On February 10, 2023, controller support was announced for Steam version only.
The game won Google Play's Best of 2022 Japan award on Best Game and User's Favourite category.[4]
