Narby is a blob-like round creature which is commonly found idling around the academy base in the game. They are described as a mysterious creature which not many of the characters know their real purpose and origin is.
Description[]
Early in the story, Narby is seen as a harmless character which only going around the base. They barely produce any expression or sound, and is not reacting much to any interaction with other characters there. Karen brought one Narby back to their dorm and Ruka, in her free time, like to play with them. The characters only knows that "they are the being that should be treated with respect.
However, later in the story, Narby started to play a significant role. In the end of Chapter 3, it is revealed that all the characters here are Narbies that take shapes of other people, and as the "human narby" ended their life, they will return to their original shape, like what happened to Satomi Kura after her death which was witnessed by both 30G and 31A that time.. This also answer the reason why in Chapter 2 of main story why Aoi POV changed to a Narby after her "death".
Origins[]
It was said that the Narby species was found around the same time of Cancer first appearances, which strikes interest of many. The fact that Narby can replicate another creature's DNA brings through the "Humanification of Narby" project where the military intends to artificially replicate them with other human DNA as a way to take advantages of their hidden potential - the Seraph which the current characters wields. The project was opposed by Tsumugi Tojo which was involved in the Narby research, and subsequently led to her death.
